What makes May unique is that she has been a dancer for more than 55 years as well as a PT and MTh for 35 years. Dancers by their nature, have an intuitive sense of their bodies. May's mother, Dr. Regina Kesler, MD, was a pediatrician, and so physical therapy has been the perfect melding of her desire to be a healer as her mother was, and a dancer, which has always been her passion.

“ My physical therapy and massage therapy training serve to continually validate what dance has always taught me- movement in each part of the body affects movement of the whole .Because I am a dancer, I  sense how the body interacts with itself in motion in the most subtle ways that are not usually available to most. she explains..  “I look at the body as a whole moving system. All the parts are connected through the fascial matrix, a 3 dimensional spider web of connective tissue with threads to each cell. When we move, the whole spider web shifts and changes to accommodate the movement. If there are restrictions in the web, the movement is inhibited, and the cells are torqued or twisted, dehydrated, and can transmit pain. To unravel these restrictions, I use specialized  movement and manual therapy. This helps restore balance and motion to the body, relieving pain and restoring function and improving alignment.  This is used for GI and Women's health issues as well, as the organs are also part of the fascial system.

May is also the only physical therapist in the United States to become a Certified Zena Rommett Floor-Barre instructor and also recently became a Progressing Ballet Technique instructor.  That allows her to adapt Floor-Barre exercises and Progressing Ballet Technique for those recovering from injuries and musculoskeletal dysfunction.

May was honored last year at the 2016 British Fascial Symposium by winning a prize for her poster presentation on the "Effects of Myofascial Release on Dance Technique". She will be continutng her research into fascial this summer by attending a Fascial Dissection Course with Dr. Jean Claude Guimberteau in Scotland.
