"I overcame a paralyzing phobia of public speaking so I could promote my first book: Sixth Sense became a four-time best-seller. A large focus of my practice is helping successful people become even more successful. You can heal your fears to live your dreams."

Dr. Laurie Nadel

Empathic.  Responsive.  Experienced.

Dr. Laurie Nadel sees clients in New York City and Long Island .

During her first career in TV news, she spent twenty years writing and producing hard news, meaning those grisly clips of people whose lives were going along in normal until a sudden, violent event ripped the ground out from under them. The
heavy work load and tight deadlines required clinical focus and detachment. But she couldn’t help wondering what happened to those people after the cameras left.

In 1987, she burned out covering the Iran-Contra hearings for CBS News and was forced to take medical leave due to chronic fatigue syndrome due to CMV (cyto-
magelo virus). Doctors confirmed it was a real illness which the Centers for Disease Control confirmed; however, there was no conventional medical treatment
for the virus. This opened the way for her to begin studying meditation and seeking natural alternatives to help her heal.

In the course of her healing journey, she recognized that she would need a new professional direction so that she would not get sick again. She was pushing 40 with a
complicated medical history and the likelihood of gainful employment other than the night shift at McDonald’s led her to complete two doctorates through
independent study: a Ph.D. in cognitive psychology and a second doctorate in clinical hypnotherapy.

She opened her private practice in 1991 focusing on stress and health issues, especially burnout; anxiety/phobias; and trauma issues which are on the anxiety

In the past three decades, it has been her privilege to be able to help people process traumatic loss and anxiety so they can lead healthy, successful and fulfilling lives.
