Dr Heidi Lovie
Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture
80 E 11th Street, #411
New York City, NY 10003
As a private practitioner of Acupuncture and Asian Medicine, Dr Lovie primarily focuses on auto-immune disorders with a special interest in Hashimoto's. However, she regularly works with all aspects of women's health (menstrual disorders, conception difficulty, pregnancy, post-partum maternal care, breast care), pain management, HIV management, cancer care, and "last resort" cases where everything else has been tried.
While working on her doctorate, Dr Lovie developed a passion for functional and integrative medicine.
She firmly believes that the future of Chinese medicine involves collaboration, transparency, and modern clinical knowledge. She regularly views modern blood work (i.e. upgraded thyroid panels, MTHFR testing, etc) through the scope of classical Chinese medicine to help patients set obtainable health goals and towards greater healing.
When not with patients, Dr Lovie is instructing future healers in her role as a clinic supervisor at Pacific College of Oriental Medicine where she also teaches courses in gynecology and neurological disorders. She has extensive training in Master Tung's Acupuncture system with several teachers in this family lineage and regularly employs his methods in patient care.
Prior to completing her Doctorate in Asian and Chinese Medicine, Dr Lovie received her Master's degree in Traditional Oriental Medicine (MSTOM) from Pacific College of Oriental Medicine through a full-time four-year graduate program where her degree holds a dual emphasis in Acupuncture and Chinese Herbalism. In addition to being a licensed Acupuncturist (L.Ac.), she is board certified by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM) in Chinese Herbology and Oriental Medicine; this certification is marked by the title of Diplomat of Oriental Medicine (Dipl.OM). She is a member of the Acupuncture Society of New York (ASNY), the American Acupuncture Association of Oriental Medicine (AAAOM), and the Kundalini Research Institute (KRI).
During her studies at at Pacific College, apart from regular Clinic Internships, Dr Lovie completed rotations at St.Vincent's Hospital HIV/AIDS Center, the Manhattan VA Hospital's Neurology and Pain Management Unit, St.Vincent's Hospital Cancer Care Center, and apprenticed at the North Jersey Center for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine.
